One of the most successful German pop singers off: Vicky Leandros has announced she will be resigning – aged 70 – after her tour.

Vicky Leandros announces her departure from the stage – and before that she wants to go on a big tour again. A total of 13 concerts are planned for the coming year, Semel Concerts Entertainment announced Thursday evening. “I think it is time to stop,” Leandros told “Bild” newspaper. “I turn 70 in the summer. That’s when you start thinking about the limits of life. It has to end at some point.” The pop and chanson singer further added that she wanted to stop on her own terms – “and under no circumstances wanted to go on stage with a stick”.

Leandros, who lives on an estate in Schleswig-Holstein, will initially give two concerts in Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie in March. She will visit 11 other cities in October. His last concert is planned for October 28 in Hannover.

The Greek-born singer found international success early on. At the age of 20 he won the “Eurovision Song Contest” for Luxembourg. During his career he sold approximately 50 million records and CDs. His biggest hits include “Apres toi”, “Theo, wir fahr nach lodz”, and the 1975 all-time classic “I Love Life”. He also named his farewell tour after this song.
