The first synthetic benchmarks of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX have appeared on Geekbench, in which the values of Vulkan and OpenCL APIs have been determined. The RDNA 3 GPU outperforms Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 4080 in Vulkan, but not OpenCL. With ray tracing, a leaker only sees performance at high ampere levels.
As early as next week, AMD will launch its first RDNA 3 GPU, which will then attack Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 4080, at least that’s the plan. Before that, the results of the first unofficial tests will be leaked again, but they should not be taken seriously, as there are still many unexplored parameters. This is how the Radeon RX 7900 XTX managed to prove itself in the Geekbench compute test. The values were set for the API Vulkan and OpenCL.
First tests reveal where RDNA 3 can be classified
As per the details on Geekbench, the Ryzen 7 7700X was used on Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme for the test setup. Of OpenCL benchmark gave 228,647 pointswhile it on Vulcan Benchmark 179,579 Points Stayed. The Videocardz website also had trouble compiling Geekbench scores from other graphics cards and creating a comparison image. According to this information, in Vulkan the Radeon RX 7900 XTX will perform about 15 percent better than the Geforce RTX 4080, and about 14 percent worse in OpenCL.

It should be noted here that the graphics card ran at 2,269 MHz in the OpenCL benchmark. According to the data on the Asus TUF model, a turbo clock rate of up to 2.6 GHz is possible. The clock is not found in the Vulkan benchmark, nor is general information about the graphics driver. It is also well known that it is difficult to draw conclusions about the gaming performance of such Compute test graphics cards. There is also a preliminary performance evaluation from PCGH, which can be seen in the following video:
Twitter user “All the Watts” also published simple assessments of the performance of AMD’s new graphics cards. The Radeon RX 7900 XT fares worse than the Geforce RTX 4080, while the RX 7900 XTX fares better than Nvidia’s GPU. The Geforce RTX 4090 has a clear lead over all. At worst, all of Watts says all RDNA 3 cards perform worse than the RTX 4080, and at best, the Radeon RX 7900 is slower than the XTX 4090.
As far as ray tracing performance is concerned, the RX 7900 XTX can only cover amp high-end, the Twitter user mentioned the RTX 3090/Ti. Ultimately, the Radeon RX 7900 XT has to compete with the RTX 3090 or RTX 3080 Ti, but the game is also important here. You shouldn’t take these figures at face value either, but wait until early next week when the first official tests of RDNA 3 graphics cards, including PC game hardware, are due to take place.
