She participated in a Monday government announcement remotely via video conference, and has not been in the legislature since session began this week.

Transportation Minister Ric McIver and UCP MLAs Angela Pitt, Peter Guthrie, and Nathan Neudorf are also entering self-isolation because they interacted with Allard last week. None are currently showing symptoms, and Allard was not symptomatic when interacting with her close contacts last week.

Allard is at home with mild symptoms, Fleming said in the late afternoon statement, adding that her close contacts are being notified, and will be advised to isolate and get tested.

Only Allard’s close contacts are required to self-isolate, but if one of them begins to show symptoms or tests positive, then that person’s close contacts would also need to self-isolate.

In a statement, Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley expressed well wishes to Allard and the politicians who are self-isolating.

“Our best wishes go out to minister Allard and we hope for a speedy recovery. We also are very much hoping that her close contacts ultimately test negative for COVID-19, including, of course, Premier Kenney as well as minister McIver and MLAs Pitt, Neudorf and Guthrie,” said Notley.

Party spokeswoman Leah Ward said no NDP MLAs or staffers had tested positive as of late Wednesday.
