How does “Hearts for Children” work?
BILD HELP E.
Specific: Every one percent donated goes directly to the needy children. Because: personnel and administration costs incurred by “Ein Herz für Kinder” are covered by a large donation from Axel Springer SE and interest income. About half of the charity lives in Germany, the other half helps abroad: children in need receive food, clothing, furniture and learning materials, among other things. Schools, day-care centers and clinics are funded when they are established or expanded.
However, “Ein Herz für Kinder” also supports medical research, thus advancing the fight against rare childhood diseases or aggressive types of cancer. In Germany, for example, BILD helps support the eV relevant children’s hospitals in the Berlin Charité, the University Hospital in Essen and the Hope Children’s Cancer Center in Heidelberg. As one of the very few associations, “Ein Herz für Kinder” also provides individual case assistance: critically ill children who do not have health insurance are assisted with life-saving surgery. In Germany, children and families are supported by things that are not covered by health insurance, such as sports therapy or the conversion of cars so that they can access the disabled.
Since the association’s founding in 1978, over 22,705 projects have been supported and helped millions of children with over 412 million euros in donations.
