Ebay last year sold its classifieds business to Norwegian company Adevinta. The now popular trading platform reveals what it will be called in the future. However, users need not change their mind for the time being.
Online marketplace eBay Classifieds has been renamed to Classifieds. During the sale of the platform to Norwegian online retail group Adevinta, the brand suffix eBay will be removed, the company informed ntv.de. However, nothing will change for the users at the moment.
The new brand identity including the logo is still under construction and is to be introduced sequentially by June 2024. Related domain Classifieds.de still goes nowhere. “We asked ourselves what eBay Classifieds is without eBay – the answer is simple: Classifieds,” says Paul Heyman, head of eBay Classifieds. The new name is also a promise to the users. “We will remain what we stand for today,” Heyman said.
In June 2021, US Internet giant Ebay sold its classifieds division to Adevinta for $9.2 billion. In addition to eBay classifieds, it also includes car sales platform mobile.de. Both sides agreed that the previous name could be used until mid-2024.
eBay Classifieds is one of the most used websites in Germany. According to the company, about 40 million people use the Marketplace every month.
