Austrian actress Christiane Horbiger has passed away. Confirmed by a family friend and a longtime employee, she died at the age of 84 in her native city of Vienna.
She became known to millions of viewers with her roles in the series “The Legacy of the Guldenbergs” and “Julia – An Unusual Woman”. He appears in Helmut Dietl’s satire “Schtonk!” With the legal drama “Die Jejurenen” or the Dürrenmatt film “The Visit of the Old Lady”.
Horbiger was first in front of the camera as a teenager. In the 1970s she played at the Salzburg Festival, continuing a family tradition: her parents – Attila Hörbiger and Paula Wesseli, a famous couple – and her sister had played there.
She was also on the theatrical stage, but found her true calling in front of the camera. For his life’s work he has been honored with the Bavarian Television Award and the German Television Award, among others.
