Backstage Update on Tomorrow’s Layoff by Braun Strowman, Alastair Black, Lana & Co – Two more matches announced for NXT – NXT UK preview of today’s edition – Two new guys to receive their WWE names

– All WWE talent received a text message from WWE yesterday about the layoffs of Braun Strowman, Alastair Black, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Ruby Riott, and Santana Garrett. Since this was never the case with the waves of layoffs until yesterday, it is rumored that the company also wanted to set an example with layoffs. The message was written by John Laurinitis, head of talent relations and read:

The following talents were released today due to budget cuts. Braun Strowman, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Santana Garrett, Ruby Riott and Aleister Black. – John Laurinitis”

Yesterday we already reported that one of the reasons for Braun Strowman’s dismissal was probably his high-value contract. Now an update says Strowman did not include a “no-cut” clause in his contract that would have protected him from dismissal. Some top stars have such a guarantee clause that guarantees them to be canceled after a while to prevent WWE from making lucrative offers. It has also been said that WWE is also speculating about getting Strowman back in the future for much less money. According to PWInsider, the non-attendance clauses for talent dismissed tomorrow will not expire until September 6 and 10. This will be longer than the normal 90-day segment, which ends on August 31. One reason could be the “All Out” PPV on September 5th, during which the talents may not appear thanks to the lengthy segment.

– For next week’s NXT edition, the last before the “NXT Takeover: In Your House” special, two more matches have now been confirmed, with Killian Dann vs. Isaiah “Swarve” Scott and Oni Lorcan vs. Austin Theory. The current line-up is as follows:

– Two of the two recently added are now given their WWE names. Blake Christian will henceforth appear as Trey Baxter, while Christian Casanova will henceforth be called Carmelo Hayes.

– “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase has now been announced for the “NXT Takeover: In Your House” special. It is likely that WWE Hall of Famer will play a key role in the match between Cameron Grimes and LA Knight.

– So far two matches have been confirmed for today’s edition of NXT UK. Ilja Dragunov will meet Noam Dar, while Joe Coffey will meet Rampage Brown. The latest edition of NXT UK will premiere on the WWE Network this evening at 9PM UK time.
