The Junior World Ski Championships begin in Canada on Thursday – also with the Swiss trump. Many former world champions are now stars.

Starting Thursday, the world’s best ski talent will again be in search of a medal. The Alpine Junior World Championships in Panorama (CAN) will open with a downhill run and run until March 9.

Swiss-Ski is also sending some medal candidates to Canada. In the twelve-man squad, it’s especially important to keep an eye on 19-year-old Delia Dürer, who has recently been on the podium in two European Cup downhill runs.

Juniors: Delphine Darbelle, Delia Durer, Livia Rossi, Aline Hopley, Amelie Klofenstein, Sarah Zoller.

Juniors: Lenz Hechler, Nicolas Macheret, Reto Macheret, Federico Toscano, Franzo von Allman and Eric Wyler.

But what is a title at the Junior World Championships really worth? Do young world champions later develop into big players as well as stars? Examples such as Marco Odermatt (7 Junior World Championship medals), Marcel Hirscher (6), Maria Höfl-Risch (9) and Anna Veith (9) show that there is a lot of potential.

The fact that Junior World Championship titles are by no means a guarantee of success and whose fate has been to you can be found in the audio contribution above.
