Düsseldorf Telecom customers can currently experience technical problems when they want to make phone calls or surf the Internet. The reason for this is an internal software error. Even at nine o’clock the problem remains the same.

The group announced on Twitter that there was “sporadic loss of incoming and outgoing mobile phone calls via LTE”. There may be long call set-up times or errors.

It was also said that there were occasional errors when sending SMS and using the mailbox. Telephone calls through 2G network are not affected. “Both the calling parties need to be on 2G network, otherwise the connection fails,” said a telecom employee.

The website “alleturbs.de” reported an increasing number of fault reports from 12 noon onwards. At around 1:30, about 6,000 failures were reported.

According to Telekom, group technicians confirmed that it was an internal software error.

When asked, the telco said it was certain that it was not a hacker attack.

The group offers this advice to customers who cannot make calls: “If our customers turn off the Voice over LTE (VoLTE) function, they can easily make calls via 2G networks.” So you have to turn off the function in the setting.
