Negotiations will supply batteries for Porsche

Swabian battery maker Varta will supply high-performance batteries to sports car maker Porsche in the future. This is reported in advance by “Handelsblatt”, citing Warta. According to the newspaper, Porsche said the VW subsidiary could work with two or more battery suppliers, depending on the characteristics of different vehicles or development projects. It depends on which partner has the best expertise for a particular project. Which partners with which projects will be realized, Porsche wants to announce in due course.
According to “Handelsblatt,” the Verta’s so-called V4Drive battery could be used in the Taycan model or the iconic 911 sports car. Varta announced in the spring that it intends to manufacture cells for electromobility in the future. The new product, named V4Drive, is to be rolled out on a pilot line at the company’s headquarters in Elwangen by the end of the year. Lithium-ion round cell can be fully charged in just six minutes and should be efficient even at extremely low temperatures
Porsche just announced on Sunday that it would begin developing and manufacturing high-performance battery cells for electric cars. The sports car maker is setting up a joint venture with Itzeho and Tübingen-based sales specialist CustomSales. According to its own statements, the VW subsidiary is investing a high double-digit million amount for an 80 percent majority stake in the new Salesforce Group.
