Canada added 6 Russian natural and legal persons to its list of sanctions for participating in the illegal occupation of Crimea.
The Canadian State Department announced this, as told by a Ukrinform correspondent.
“This declaration reaffirms Canada’s unwavering commitment to the sovereignty of Ukraine and its people, which persists in protecting its rights from Russian aggression. Canada continues to urge Russia to end its illegal occupation and release all illegally detained political prisoners, ”the State Department said.
It stressed that “since the illegal occupation and occupation of Crimea in 2014, the Russian government has consistently violated Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence”.
“Russia is committing a serious violation of human rights of the people of Crimea. Russia has also expanded its military on the peninsula, transferring hundreds of thousands of Russian civilians, and continues to destroy the historical heritage of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar people, ”the Foreign Ministry said. Canada condemns serious violations of international humanitarian law and human rights that continue under Russian occupation in Crimea.
