Canada’s record Olympic champion advanced to the final in Beijing with a two-point victory next. The top favourite, who had given the United States the gold after four consecutive victories four years ago, swept Switzerland out of the ice 10:3 (5:1, 3:2, 2:0) and broke the mark for fourth. Time in the sixth tournament game given ten goals.
Claire Thompson (8′), Jamie Lee Rattray (9′), Blair Turnbull (10′), Renata Fast (10′) and Erin Ambrose (11′) scored five goals in three and a half minutes to decide the game in Canada. Did it Quick favor. Mary-Philippe Paulin (28th/34th), Emily Clark (29th), Emma Maltais (44th) and Brian Jenner (59th) scored other goals for the world champions. Lara Stalder (19th/30th) and Alina Müller (25th) scored for the Swiss, who are looking to repeat their bronze medal success since 2014.
The eventual opponent for Canada will be determined between defending champions USA and three-time Olympic bronze medalist Finland at 2.10pm CET.
