Canadian shares fall at the end of trading; S&P/TSX down 0.03% on Investing.com

Investing.com – Canadian shares were lower after Thursday’s close, further denting prices.

It closed down 0.03% in Toronto.

Best performance of the season in Render Enerplus Corp (TSX:), which closed 4.12% or 0.51 points higher at 12.90. Shopify Inc (TSX:) added 3.20% or 66.02 points to end at 2,132.01. Dye & Durham Ltd (TSX:) was up 3.09% or 1.26 points at 42.10 at the close of trade.

The worst performer of the session was Tilray Inc (TSX:), falling 13.04%, or 2.03 points, to settle at 13.54. Cronos Group Inc. (TSX:) fell 12.29%, or 0.86 points, to close at 6.14. Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX:) was down 11.14%, or 1.110 points, at 8,850.

Falling stocks advanced further from 641 to 321 on the Toronto Stock Exchange and 126 remained unchanged.

Shares of Shopify Inc (TSX:) hit all-time high; Added 3.20% or 66.02 to 2,132.01. Shares of Cronos Group Inc. (TSX:) fall to 3-year low; fell from 12.29%, or 0.86, to 6.14.

The S&P/TSX which measures the implied volatility of options rose 13.36% to 13.32.

Gold futures for December delivery were down 0.48%, or $8.95, at $1,861.25 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trade, crude for delivery in January rose 1.30%, or $1.01, to $78.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.28%, or $1.03, to $81.31 a barrel.

CAD/USD was up 0.04% at 0.7932 while CAD/EUR was down 0.41% at 0.6976.

US dollar index futures were down 0.28% at 95.558.
