Climate crisis: On the road in Canada: a land of forgotten environmental problems

When you think of Canada, you think of untouched nature. But there are large-scale problems of nature conservation. The symbol for this is a pipeline into which oil is pumped to the shore.

Knowledge is transmitted through stories among the indigenous peoples of Canada. Above all, members of the concerned people, known as “Elders” – experienced and highly valued – tell them to children until they themselves grow up and pass on their knowledge. It is a cycle, like the wheel of nature. Kaya George is also telling a story now. It belongs to his people, the Tsell-Vaututh Nation, whose land lies on the Burrard Inlet fjord near Vancouver.
