The background is still unclear: a police officer was killed and another injured north of Toronto.

A police officer was seriously injured after being shot during an operation at a residential building in eastern Canada, officials said. The South Simcoe Police Department said in a statement that another officer suffered serious injuries in the incident Tuesday evening in the town of Inisfil, north of Toronto.

Due to this, the officers were called to the house due to the uproar. In the building, both the police officers were hit by bullets, it said.

Later, after the intervention of the police, the alleged culprit was declared brought dead. Initially there were no details on this or about the background of the operation. It said that both the police officers were initially taken to a local hospital for treatment of bullet wounds. One died there. The other was taken to Toronto and taken to the emergency center. His condition remains critical.
