With GeForce 465.89 WHQL, Nvidia brings a driver that also supports Resizable BAR (rBAR) on the GeForce RTX 3090, 3080, 3070 and 3060 Ti. For the feature to be active, however, a VBIOS update is required on these models. Nvidia and Partners provide related update tools for download in parallel.
Activate reserve bar on GeForce RTX 3000
The new GeForce RTX 3000 laptop GPU and GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB were the only Ampere graphics cards to date equipped with a video BIOS compatible with “rBAR”. All other graphics cards require updates. Related update tools are now available from both Nvidia and custom design manufacturers.
After a restart, the WHQL Resizable BAR must be activated in the driver properties of GeForce 465.85, provided that the mainboard BIOS already supports rBAR.

With AMD, the driver uses rBAR only in selected titles. The list currently includes 17 titles, more than nine when the GeForce RTX 3060 was launched in February.

In own benchmark Nvidia has promised a 12 percent increase in WQHD, with a GeForce RTX 3080 with a GEF9R 5950X. The VBIOS update tool already published on the weekend has not yet shown any effect, which may be due to the fact that the driver was not yet ready. ComputerBase will try to produce its own benchmark before Easter to get to the bottom of the Nvidia prospect of only very moderate gains so far.

Game Ready Dirt Dirt 5
Along with GeForce 465.89 WHQL (“Game Ready”), Nvidia is also releasing a new graphics driver from Codemasters for ray tracing in the arcade racing game Dirt 5 (Test). AMD had already done the same with the new Adrenalin 2020 Edition 21.3.2. And this is not the only parallel.
Like the Adrenaline Driver, GeForce 465.89 WHQL co-op shooter Outriders (system requirements) and the strategy game Evil Genius 2: World Domination by Rebellion, is set to be distributed by publisher Square Rex. Nvidia is also supporting the launch of Kingdom Hearts in the Epic Games store with a new driver.
