Time

There was a magnitude 3.4 earthquake in Carinthia on Saturday at 07.55 am. The epicenter was south of Ferlach and the earthquake could be felt over a large part of Carinthia. Only in December there was a powerful earthquake in Croatia, which was also noticeable in Carinthia.

The Earthquake Service of the Central Meteorological and Geological Institute ZAMG reported an intensity of 3.4 on the Richter scale. Which corresponds to a very small number of vibrations. Shocks were also noticeable up to 14 kilometers from the Clagenfurt area. According to Wolfgang Lehardt from ZAMG, it was a natural earthquake.

Cornelia Spooler from Ferlach said the earthquake lasted about 15 to 20 seconds and you can feel it clearly. In Firlach, however, people already have a habit of lightening earthquakes, Stephen Raas said. He has been living in that area for a very long time and he knows that although there are earthquakes, they are not as strong.

There was no major damage to the buildings. In the event of damage, it is possible to fill the identification form on the homepage of the Central Meteorological and Geology Earthquake Service.
