The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, they say. And so daughter Simone is now following her father, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, to the wrestling circus. And not just him: his grandfather and great-grandfather have also fought in the ring.
Meanwhile, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson began a successful acting career with films such as “Fast and Furious”. But he earned his first spurs as a wrestler with “World Wrestling Entertainment” (WWE). Now his daughter Simone Johnson is following in his footsteps.
The 21-year-old stepped into the WWE ring as “Ava Ren” for the first time on Tuesday night. During the broadcast of “NXT”, a show dedicated to the next generation of WWE stars, Simone was announced as a member of the wrestling group Schism. She initially stood in the background with a yellow smiley face mask and a red hooded sweatshirt, until she took an oath of allegiance to her team, which was much admired.
“The love and acceptance that Schism has shown me defies all preconceived notions of who I should be,” she said. “This family completes me.”
Proud of “The Rock”
Simon Johnson is the first fourth generation wrestler in WWE history. He was succeeded by his father, who retired from the organization in 2004, his grandfather, “Soul Man” Rocky Johnson, and his great-grandfather, Prince Peter Maivia aka “The High Chief”. Simone’s great-grandmother, Lia Maivia, was one of the first female wrestling promoters.
Simone Johnson made her debut in 2020, but her debut was delayed due to injury. He had to undergo surgery for a knee injury.
Her father has always emphasized how proud he is of her. As a fourth generation, she “wrote history,” the 50-year-old told “Entertainment Tonight” in July. “She’s incredibly independent. It’s so important for her to have her own way. Make her own way. Make your own way. She doesn’t expect much from me and I respect her. And I’m here looking at her and hers.” I’m supporting.”
In addition to his acting career, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has also made occasional appearances in WWE. On October 4, 2019, however, he finally ended his career in and around the ring with an appearance on the wrestling show “SmackDown”, which was celebrating its 20th anniversary.
