Former federal minister Schmidt yells at journalists

A video of CSU politician Christian Schmidt is going viral on social media. In it, the High Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina shouts at journalists at a press conference.

The High Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina (OHR) Christian Schmidt lost his cool at a news conference. A video of the former German agriculture minister, seen during a visit to the city of Gorazde in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, caused a stir on social media on Wednesday.

The CSU politician reacted clearly upset to a question from a reporter from the news channel N1. “Trash, big garbage!” Schmidt nods at the camera. “Guys, I’m not sitting or standing here… I’m interested in this country,” he continues, pointing with his hands. No one is here to play the political power game. He’s had enough, Schmidt apparently wants to say. However, possibly because of his enthusiasm, his English is difficult to understand.

Schmidt then wants to tell reporters how they should do their jobs: “Ask your questions! But please take it as I decide and how I treat people.” In a furious tone, he says, “Sorry to be so obvious, but I … here (Schmidt nods to his forehead) with all the allegations that are completely false.”
