The Germany national ice hockey team and all of us expected more from the opening match (1:5) against Canada. But you have to admit that Canadians were better than us in all areas and did more physically. The 1-0 stern action against Marco Novak before Canada was also a fair check for me. There are moments like this in hockey. Like in previous tournaments, we have to work hard for everything. I am confident that the team will return to the games against China on Saturday (9.40 pm) and against USA on Sunday (2.10 pm).

You have to analyze the game against Canada and see the mistakes. But nothing is lost so far. When we won the silver medal in Pyeongchang four years ago, we lost 5-2 to Finland and 1-0 to Sweden in the first two games.
However, DEB selection should now be considered game by game and not make the mistake of looking too far ahead. It is about getting their footing in the tournament and the game that makes the German team so strong. Need to win against China. The Chinese have a fairly unknown team of 16 natural players from North America. Germany has a better team but it needs improvement. Outside China will do their best to beat us though, so it won’t be an easy game.
