After this season, Honda left the engine manufacturer. formula 1 End. The Japanese conglomerate wants to save costs and reallocate its resources.
For Honda this is the fourth exit from formula 1. But a return to the engine maker already seems possible.
Formula 1: Honda suggests timely return
Honda wants to become climate neutral by 2050 – joining Formula 1 no longer fits the plan. In 2022, Red Bull will therefore have to give up the support of the engine supplier. In the future, the racing team will build its own power unit based on the Honda engine.
But there are already speculations about a return from Honda. The Japanese company was on the table during discussions on the new engine, which will be introduced in 2026.

But apparently Honda can also consider a comeback soon. “Personally, I think yes, we will be back,” said Honda’s Formula 1 managing director Masashi Yamamoto at the Turkish GP and continued: “Honda now has to focus on CO2 neutrality and we need to accelerate the project. But once things settle down, I think there will be people within the company who want to do F1.”
So it could very well be that we will see Honda back in Formula 1 in a few years. This would be the fifth era of the Japanese.
