Meanwhile, according to Polish border guards, two large groups of migrants attempted to forcefully enter the EU country on Poland’s border with Belarus. Accordingly, groups of between 90 and 130 people set out on weekends to illegally enter Polish territory. Anna Michalska, a border guard spokeswoman for the PAP news agency in Warsaw, said this was only prevented by the rapid intervention of the border guards and troops of the Polish army. The agency posted a video of the incident on Twitter.

According to Michalska, Polish border guards recorded more than 2,000 attempts to illegally cross the border with Belarus over the weekend. On Saturday alone there were a record number of more than 700 attempts – more than ever. So more soldiers have to be sent to the border to help them. “We are in contact with the Ministry of Defense,” Michalska said. At present 2500 soldiers are deployed on the border.
