Video recordings of the incident are currently being evaluated, following anti-Semitic allegations by singer Gil Ofrim against Leipzig hotel staff.
“Several videos have been secured by surveillance cameras,” a spokesman for the Leipzig Public Prosecutor’s Office for the German press agency said on Sunday. The evaluation is not yet complete, so no information can be given about the content.
BILD previously reported that surveillance videos may raise questions about the events described and may also refer to investigative circles.
Accordingly, the series with the Star of David should not have appeared explicitly on the video. “What can be seen in the video is part of an ongoing investigation,” a police spokesman for Leipzig police headquarters said upon request.
BILD am Sonntag quoted the singer as follows: “The sentence that came out came from behind. That is, someone recognized me. It’s not about the chain. It’s about a really big thing. Since I can often be seen on TV with Star of David, I was humiliated because of it.”

Ofrim described in a video in early October that an employee of “The Westin Leipzig” had asked her to remove her necklace with a Star of David. Ofrim is the son of Israeli musician Abi Ofrim (1937–2018) and grew up in Germany. Ofrim complained.
The Leipzig Public Prosecutor’s Office has received several reports of the incident – even from a hotel employee accused of defamation. According to earlier statements, he describes the events separately from the artist.
