Innsbruck – Mudslide and heavy rain in Tyrol: A pastor (60) in Stubital (Innsbruck-Land district) is carried in his car by mud and debris. According to Austrian police, the priest is missing.

The search for the pastor from Stubai had to be halted on Saturday afternoon – too dangerous for emergency services. Next week, the Water Rescue Service will continue the search for the Togo-born pastor. This is reported by “Kleine Zeitung”.

A piece of rubble was found in Ruetz’s creek bed. According to the “Kleine Zeitung” it is the car of the priest.

Another car was also buried in the storm. The fire brigade managed to save both the people. The 26-year-old Slovak and her 24-year-old passenger from Austria were taken to a hospital in Innsbruck.

The storm also damaged houses and bridges in Stubital. The roads had to be closed. Around 120 passengers were trapped in a hut in the mountain. About half of them were taken out by helicopter on Saturday, and another rescue operation was planned for Sunday.

About 200 fire brigade operations were recorded on Saturday night because of the storm – most of them in the Innsbruck-Land district.

Two killed in storm in Poland

Strong wind and rain accompanied by strong wind also occurred in Poland – two people died. A 70-year-old woman died after a tree fell on Saturday in the village of Biali Kosiol, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, according to a PAP agency report.

In the municipality of Przewrotne in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, a 39-year-old motorist died after a tree fell on his vehicle. The fire brigade deployed more than 1,800 times on Sunday night to clear out fallen trees from roads or to flush out basements.
