Your old free version of G Suite will no longer be available starting July 1, 2022. If you want to continue using associated services and accounts, you will need to upgrade to Google Workspace.
We originally launched the legacy free version of G Suite 16 years ago as a Google Apps for Business and Education offering. We terminated this service in 2012 and are now converting all remaining users to a paid Google Workspace subscription. What that will happen depends on which services you are currently using.
What does this mean for my organization?
In 2020, we launched Google Workspace with more product options that better meet the needs of our customers. Google Workspaces offers many new benefits in addition to the features you’re currently used to, including more storage space, better security, and 24/7 support.
Upgrading to Google Workspace from your old free version of G Suite is easy and non-stop for your end users. Also, we will provide you various discount options for one year starting from July 1, 2022.
What should I do?
If you want to keep your accounts and avoid service disruption, upgrade to Google Workspace by May 1, 2022. We encourage you to read the Transition Help article thoroughly, compare the available subscription options, and then decide which Google Workspace version is best for your organization. Then it goes like this:
Go to Admin Console.
Select New Subscription.
Enter your payment information.
You can use the new Google Workspace subscription and its features for free until at least July 1, 2022.
If you do not upgrade by May 1, 2022, we will automatically transfer your organization to a new Google Workspace subscription without service interruption. Which plan depends on which services you’re currently using with your older free version of G Suite.
If you do not provide payment information by July 1, 2022, your subscription will be suspended.
Don’t want to upgrade to a Google Workspace subscription because you no longer need the relevant services? You can then export your organization’s data.
