Taking older games out of sale, taking action against mods, and releasing faulty remasters: Rockstar’s handling of the GTA trilogy left an inversely positive impression. With the first patch and one small change, the company is now trying to limit the damage.

In the company blog, the publisher apologizes for the problems. The state of the games is not up to its own quality standards, writes Rockstar. Also, there is talk of “unforeseen technical problems”. It sounds hard to imagine, developers and thus publishers usually know the status of their products quite well.
Anger over unfinished games has apparently given rise to lewd excesses once again. At the same time, Rockstar is asking members of the Grove Street Games development team not to harass via the social network. This kind of careful justice doesn’t even kill the right person: Ultimately, the publisher is responsible for publication and quality assurance.
There is also the first update on the console. According to patch notes Among other things, an issue with the rain display has been fixed. In its original state, it had severely restricted viewing. Further patches should follow until the remaster meets the company’s quality standards.
the classics are returning
The fact that unfinished products are released is one thing in this case. If at the same time the classics from sales and modders are suppressed, then at the same time the impression arises that the purchase of an expensive version of 60 euros should be transferred very strongly. At this point, Rockstar is now building its image. GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas will be back on sale in the original versions at an as yet unknown date, but will only be offered through the unpopular Rockstar Games Launcher and a bundle. Anyone who purchases the trilogy by June 30, 2022 will also receive older versions at no additional charge. These are not particularly good conditions, which is why little should change in the end: Oldies remain unattractive when purchased individually. So fundamentally nothing has changed.
