A gunman who killed 11 people in 2018 has been sentenced to life in Canada. Judges handed down the prison sentence on Monday with no prospect of parole for the next 25 years.
The then 25-year-old man tried to crush as many people as possible during a two-kilometer stampede with a van in downtown Toronto.
Ten people died immediately after the crime in April 2018, 16 were injured at the time. One of the injured died as a result of the crime in a hospital in October 2021. The offender had already been found guilty in March 2021. After the sentence was announced, a victim’s family said the day marked the end of “four long years”.
