IT system shut down as a precaution
As a precautionary measure, IT systems in several business areas were shut down at various places. A crisis team is working with internal and external security experts to prevent disruption, mitigate impacts and assess the potential consequences of the incident, Nordex explained. The exact scope of the cyber incident at the company was not disclosed. Only customers and employees can be affected by the shutdown of IT systems.
cyber attack on administration
IT security in public administration last came into focus in the autumn of 2021. Several municipalities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were affected by system failures due to cyber attacks that could not apply for a driver’s license, identity card or passport.
In another case, there were problems with the State Office for Internal Administration (LAIV). Many departments remained at a standstill for weeks. Among other things, the office is tasked with procuring materials for other state institutions – from printer paper to official cars.
