Finished products make you sick in the long run
You are what you eat – there is a lot of truth in this saying. Because American researchers have now found that the ingredients of many finished products age our brain and thus cause Alzheimer’s. But there are also foods that inhibit this growth.
Our reporter did a major self-experiment a few years back. She wanted to find out if the taste changes significantly when you eat only the finished product – you can see the results in the video.
Diet Affects Alzheimer’s
The fact that prepared pizza, french fries, chips, sausages and other highly processed products are unhealthy should no longer surprise anyone. But how specific the damage is—especially in our brain—after a few weeks is a new discovery.
In one experiment, researchers at Ohio State University found that after four weeks measurable damage was already present. The focus was on products that were packaged for a longer shelf life. These products also often lead to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
“The fact is that we were able to detect these effects so quickly,” said Ohio State University scientist Ruth Barrientos. “These results suggest that consumption of finished products has a direct negative effect on our memory. For an aging population, this means that memory loss is more likely to lead to Alzheimer’s disease.”
Study reveals which foods make us sick
The study itself was done on rats. American scientists copied the human diet based on finished products. Because many processed products as well as meat and sausage products trigger inflammation in the body, which can also lead to chronic diseases of the cardiovascular system.
On the other hand, the right diet can also reduce the risk of disease – specifically the risk of developing several types of cancer. We show here which foods are especially helpful.
These products bring relief
But even though the consequences of such a diet can be very serious for our body – there is also good news. Because they are not immutable. Scientists have found that certain foods can even heal our bodies.
According to researchers, foods containing the omega-3 fatty acid DHA should be able to inhibit negative processes. It can be found in fish and other seafood. That being said, scientists recommend a A balanced whole diet, i.e. lots of fresh foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grain products.
