Ice hockey: EHC Munich on course for play-offs

EHC Munich, second in the main round behind defending champions and top favorite Isberen Berlin, have gained a lot of confidence by scoring 23 goals in the last four games and are on course for the play-offs. “We’ve found our game,” captain Patrick Hager said after Sunday’s 5-0 win over Iserlohan Roasters.

In a BR24 Sports interview, the 33-year-old striker said it’s fun to “play ice hockey” right now. However, the season was “a bit of a roller coaster ride”. In the Champions League he was “confident the whole year. In the league, especially in December, we had a big hitch that cost us even better.” But since the Olympics they have recovered and “therefore are on the right track.”

After Bayern won the main round, the next goal is already clear: “The championship is within reach,” says Hager. However, they want to bring in other teams as well. “We know it’s going to be a lot of work.”

But not only the captain, strong cohesion in the team, optimistic about winning the battle for the 101st German championship: “Everything is possible,” says fellow striker Maximilian Dabner. “We want to have that thing, everybody in the dressing room knows.”
