The Czech Republic beat Norway 4–1 in Group B of the Ice Hockey World Championships in Finland. The neighboring country of Austria is thus taking a big step towards the climb.
David Pasternak is the man of the evening for the check. The Boston Bruins forward scored a brace (7′, 41′). Jakob Vrana (23rd) and Roman Cervenka (59/EN) scored the remaining goals for the Czech Republic. Ludwig Hoff scored a consolation goal for Norway in the power play (45./pp).
This places the Czech Republic in third place with ten points, Norway in sixth with five points.
Meanwhile, Slovakia beat Italy 3-1. While the Slovaks are fifth on nine points, Italy are second from the bottom and have to fight relegation with just one point. Switzerland and Canada, on the other hand, have nothing to do with it. In Group A, the Confederates took the lead on the Maple cards with a 6–3 victory.
