Kanye West requests name change

About three years ago, rap star Kanye West adopted the abbreviation YE initially on Twitter and as an artist name. Now reality star Kim Kardashian’s husband apparently wants to be officially called her for “personal reasons.”

US rapper Kanye West, who took the stage name Ye in 2018, apparently wants to make it his official name. The musician applied for the same name change in court in Los Angeles, as was unanimously reported by several US media on Tuesday.

Celebrity portal “TMZ.com” posted a document listing the current name “Kanye Omari West” and the proposed name “Ye”. According to “people.com” “personal reasons” are being cited for the name change. A court must approve the application.

In September 2018, West introduced himself on Twitter as “I’m here” and said goodbye to Kanye West. They had previously released the album “Ye”. The musician, who was born in Chicago in 1977, recently presented to the public his new album “Donda”, named after West’s late mother. The rapper has four children with wife Kim Kardashian West. The parents have been divorced since February.
