Last week Microsoft introduced the new cloud PC service “Windows 365”. Currently only Windows 10 is offered, customers will have the option as soon as Windows 11 is officially available. Curious about how I am now, I asked myself if the inside version of Windows 11 could now be installed?
One can certainly argue about prudence and nonsense, but we don’t have to. It was pure drama instinct that gave me the idea, I would not have gained any credible knowledge with the extent of certainty. I write “will” because this plan has never been implemented.
Not because I might have lost interest, but because my respected colleague Ed Bot had exactly the same idea and was in front of me put into effect. with maximum failure.
You can register Windows 365 Cloud PC for Windows Insider program without any problem, download and installation of Windows 11 Insider Build also works. After the first restart, Cloud PC says goodbye, a connection is no longer possible and you have to reset Cloud PC via Widows 365 admin panel, after which you will have a fresh Windows 10 installation in front of you.
Exactly why the Windows 11 installation failed can’t be said with certainty, but I agree with Ed’s notion that Cloud PCs were the first to start installing Windows 11 for an “out-of-the-box experience” (OOBE). Does. In this situation, however, no remote connection is possible, so Virtual PC cannot be reached.
If you think a little further, you can even understand for yourself that it really doesn’t work at all. Had I not received the experience report on time, I would have hit a wall. This is not a real problem, you have to keep in mind that this is a proposition for companies and Windows 11 certainly won’t find its way to cloud PCs like this. The big companies run their images anyway, so the most interesting question is whether Microsoft will offer an official upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 for small version Windows 365 Business or whether the PC will need to be reinstalled.
