Maintenance work on the Hamburg power supply caused widespread internet disruption on Monday morning. The telecom provider as well as users of O2, Vodafone and 1&1 were affected.
When the malfunction occurred, the DSL connections failed, causing many customers to lose their internet connection. The reason for the massive failure was an incident during maintenance work.
Unrest in Hamburg: Internet gone
“During this work, a fuse has tripped. This has caused a power supply restriction,” said a telecoms spokesperson for “Hamburger Abendblatt”. The disruption lasted from 11.10 a.m. to 12.20 p.m., according to the company. During this, the mobile and landline networks of the users could not be reached.

O2, Vodafone and 1&1 also had problems – telcos also use Telekom lines and were therefore affected. Even before some big provider: O2 already reported a fault at 9:30 am.
A Telekom spokesperson told “abendblatt”: The company is sincerely sorry for the incident. It is not clear how many customers were affected. (From)
