In the case of secret documents stored in the estate of former President Trump, there have been indications of possible obstruction of justice. According to a statement filed in the court, the government files were “possibly hidden”.

In a legal dispute over secret documents discovered during a search of former US President Donald Trump’s property, investigators find signs of a possible obstruction of justice. Responsible US prosecutors submitted a 54-page letter to a Florida court in which they present their evidence.

The Justice Department published late in the evening (local time), “evidence found that government records were possibly hidden and removed from the storage room (in Trump’s mansion) and attempted to obstruct the investigation (…) Had gone.” court document.

Many confidential documents seized

In early August, the FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago mansion in Palm Beach, Florida. The FBI seized several sets of documents classified as top secret. Since Trump is said to have kept the documents in his personal property after his term, he may have broken the law. Now it is being investigated.

A US law requires that letters, memos, e-mails, faxes and other written correspondence from a president be stored for posterity. The Justice Department said it had tried several times to get all the documents back. Finally, on August 8, Mar-a-Lago was searched and dozens of boxes were confiscated by the FBI.

Trump demands neutral examiner

So far, Trump has argued differently as to why he kept the material to himself. West Palm Beach court hearing scheduled for Thursday at Trump’s request to review documents seized in the raid Specially commissioned neutral person to be released – And not government investigators.

The former president criticized the raid as further evidence of alleged attempts to eliminate him politically. The 76-year-old has repeatedly fueled speculation that he may run again in the 2024 presidential election. The Republican served as president from 2017 to 2021.
