Quick End: The long-awaited restart of KfW funding for permanent renovations to homes only lasted a few hours. Then the amount of funding was already exhausted. There should not be more budget.
Just hours after restarting KfW funding for energy-efficient renovations and efficient homes, a billion-euro funding volume ended again on Wednesday. KfW Bank immediately closed the re-application option. The application deadline was the end of the year.
In January, the federal government initially withheld funding due to a flood of applications, sparking heated debate. Economics and Climate Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) delivered and announced that builders can still expect funding with Standard 40. Federal Building Minister Clara Gewitz (SPD) had earlier expressed regret at the abrupt termination of KfW funding.
No more funds for the old program
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, on Thursday there will be a follow-up program for the construction of the so-called EH-40 houses, albeit with fairly strict conditions – without financial limits, but with an application deadline until the end of the year. For the old program, the one billion euro limit that has been reached so far remains.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Works said the new program now has a quality seal for sustainable construction for construction projects. Is there a similar rush to the new program, which is open given the very strict requirements. As a third phase, reappraisal of new construction subsidies with the title “Climate Resilient Construction” is planned from January 2023.
