The setting for the anniversary is worthy: Polar Bear’s top game against Rosenheim is calling. Not all memories are positive.

Regensburg.EV Regensburg, nothing but EV Regensburg: Corbinian Schutz never wore a different jersey. Now the Polar Bear defender has reached a crucial point on Friday (8 p.m.): he is playing his 300th match for his home club. And as it apt, it’s a big game, the top game against the Starbulls from Rosenheim. But the career of the now 26-year-old, who had always wanted to be a polar bear as a boy and then emulate his idol Martin Ansica, wasn’t always easy — and even beginning at EVR was pretty special. , at the age of 16, in the playoff quarter-finals in Duisburg on 20 March 2012.
#With Leon Dresitli in Canada
#Eleven weeks earlier, at the turn of the year 2011/12, Corbinian Schutz made another major appearance at the unofficial Under-17 World Cup in Canada – now with several leading names. Leon Driesett was part of a team like Dominic Kahun or Marcus Eisenschmidt Schutz – and along with Lukas Gohlke (Peating) or Simon Meyer he still runs into regular teammates in the major leagues these days. “Lots of good memories, lots of friendships and a pleasure to chat on the ice.” Of course, not everything was always wonderful. There’s a difference in 2015/16 Korbinian Schutz’s Vita. He then secured his target and DEL contract for the Augsburg Panthers. But Corbinian Schutz did not like this world. “And what you don’t like, you have to change,” says brother Simon, who is not exactly two and a half years younger, turns 24 next week and has taken a step back from Ingolstadt to DEL 2 to play more . And try one more to try nine. “I now play 24 instead of seven, eight minutes per game and hold the leadership position,” says Schutz, very “short” in style of play and temperament.
#She wants something simple for her brother for his anniversary. “It should stay as it is,” says Simon Schutz. “And I expect there to be more than 300 games.” Corbinian Schutz began training as a media designer and took a break until EVR was looking for reinforcements in the final stages of the 2016/17 season and found what they were looking for at their doorstep. A new Schutz calendar began. Since then I’ve had more fun than ever before and am pleased that “it will last so long,” says Corbinian Schutz.
#The reason for this also seems simple. “I’ve got my role and can show my playing style – and not to others.” The person with the number 78 on the back is not someone who tries to spell mantras with his name out of the curve and makes such an effort. Why recognition? “I don’t care about goals or points. I’m a defender: I’d rather check and block shots than score goals. Otherwise I’d have been a striker.”
#Is Corbinian Schutz also aiming for 400 or 500 games in the Regensburg jersey? “I don’t plan for the long term,” says the man who works “one or two days a week” at his training company and is responsible for all published graphics at Eisberen. “I don’t plan so long-term, but only from year to year,” Schutz says. Given the fast pace of ice hockey, he “can’t completely deny” whether he can slip into a jersey other than Regensburg’s jersey, the only one in his career to date. Especially since his back injury when he crashes into the gang turns out everything can fall apart quickly. So two goals in the comeback against Waldkrieberg are among the memories that come to Schutz’s anniversary. “Because it happened against Waldkrieberg as well.”
##Polar bear trainer Max Kaltenhauser also talks a lot about his corset bar. “300 games is a big achievement. And he not only plays along, but plays an important role and hardly makes any mistakes. I can’t imagine that there would be anyone who doesn’t have Korby – not just on our team, by the way.”
#Corbinian Schutz certainly wishes that the Rosenheim game would be remembered to commemorate this day. “But this is a team that can be very strong,” he knows, and says Max Kaltenhauser: “On paper it is the team in the major leagues – more top-class than other top-tier teams.” Still, they want to win again. “I prefer to have an ugly victory than a good defeat.”
#Peter Holmgren will be in goal, Sunday (6.30pm) in Passau the game will be played by Patrick Berger. And American emergency assistant Jeff Fairing is on the team in a home game for the first time as U20s have a break and wanted to give Kaltenhauser youngster Alandro Angaran a chance to “go home again in South Tyrol”. Aside from the long-term failures of Marvin Schmid, Richard Divis and Peter Flash, only the ailing Lucas Wagner is missing.
