Britney Spears’ longtime lawyer, who represented the American singer in her guardianship dispute, wants to step down from the job. US media reported that Sam Ingham and a law firm in Los Angeles have filed an application in court. Promiportal “TMZ.com” put court documents on the net. Accordingly, Ingham wants to be relieved of his duties as soon as the court has appointed a new lawyer.

A day earlier, the longtime manager of pop star Britney Spears resigned. Larry Rudolph, who has worked for the pop star since the mid-1990s, said he hadn’t spoken to Spears for more than two years. Their professional services will no longer be needed.

A lawyer, Ingham, has been on Spears’ side since 2008 after the singer suffered a mental breakdown due to professional and personal problems and a court granted her father guardianship.

Recently, controversy over Spears’ guardianship over her finances and personal liberties had come to a head. The 39-year-old called for the termination of guardianship in an emotional court hearing in June. Spears said she felt she was taken advantage of by her family and managers. She is controlling and cannot determine her own life. She also said that she wants to choose her own lawyer.
