Meter high flames in the London evening sky!
A fire broke out in a car workshop west of the British capital – just a few meters from Acton Town underground station. The fire brigade was called around 6:10 pm (German time) and deployed with 70 emergency services and ten vehicles, as announced on Twitter.
Firefighters are currently cooling several gas cylinders at the workshop site so that they do not explode. The rescue teams are expected to be busy with the operation till late night. Residents should keep their windows closed.
It is still unclear what caused the fire and whether people were injured. The metro station was evacuated and roads around it were closed. According to the BBC, the Piccadilly line between Hammersmith and Uxbridge is disrupted. An eyewitness described the scene in the news portal “MyLondon” as “apocalyptic”.

Last major London Underground fire in June
The last major fire occurred near a London Underground station in June 2021. At that time, flames erupted seven meters in front of a shop near the “Elephant and the Castle” train station – even then a car workshop caught fire. Cause of fireball: Hazardous chemicals kept in the workshop.
The fire brigade arrived with 15 fire tenders and 100 emergency services. After a struggle of about two hours, the woman brought the situation under control. Six people were injured in the incident, two of whom were from inhaling the fumes.
