Man donates liver to coworker he hardly knew: Now they’re friends
by Clemens Groszow
Calgary (Canada) – Carla Frisco was desperate because canadian suffers from rare liver disease, She had given up hope when she met Scott, who made her an offer that changed everything.
The touching story of Carla and Scott is on the minds of many in Canada right now, as CTV News Calgary informed of.
Because six years ago, Carla was diagnosed with a serious illness: primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a fatal liver disease.
The life expectancy of patients suffering from PSC is often significantly reduced. Apparently there is no cure for this condition yet.

Only a donor organ can help at this time. However, since there are still so few organs being donated, it is often associated with long waiting times. The time that PSC patients have often doesn’t.
Such was the case with Carla, although she had been on a waiting list since 2021 for a new organ, she had little hope of receiving an organ from a dead person.
More and more, a living donation to the woman came into play. In this procedure, a piece of liver is removed and transplanted from a voluntary donor – a risky operation that requires a lot of trust.
But Carla had only this chance. So she asked family and friends, many who wanted to help, but none had the option of donating.
When the new colleague learns of Carla’s fate, he immediately seeks help.
Shortly after her last friend was cast out as the donor, Carla gave up hope.
Then she was talking to Scott Watson, a new colleague. The two didn’t know each other before, but a small conversation changed everything. She spoke to Scott and told him about her difficult situation.
Scott later stated the opposite CTV News Calgary: “Carla impressed me when she told me her story”

“When we said I should get tested, I felt great.”
It was a stroke of luck, as Scott was completely healthy and had a suitable liver.
To Carla, the world meant, “Hope is something I haven’t felt strongly about in a long time, it has given me that hope.”

Both were finally operated on Monday. Carla and Scott both survived the procedure well under general anesthesia.
Now Carla can look to the future without worry again. But work colleagues also want to remain friends. Events have tied them together.
Carla and Scott set out on a path together that eventually led to Carla getting her life back. But Scott is also grateful, saying shortly before surgery: “The ability to do such a selfless act for someone and give them life is something you just can’t take away.”
