Marko Arnautovic: Free transfer to Bologna for Canada? - Football - International

The matter is becoming even more concrete. A move from Marco Aranautovic to Bologna FC seems to have been more than a pious wish of the Serie A club for a long time.

Already in the winter “Rosoblau” worked hard to get to the Viennese, but could not realize a transfer. Bologna’s sports director Walter Sabatini, who has good contacts in China and is the much-awaited transfer warrior in Italy, never broke contact.

Meanwhile, and fbb star’s brother and manager Sabatini and Denzel Arnautovic are clearly already in solid talks, “Corriere dello Sport” reports. Aranutovic is said to be influenced by the tenacity and intense advertising of the Italians.

There is no doubt that Bologna absolutely wants to sign the 32-year-old. Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has already made positive comments on Arnautovic several times, saying he has placed a condition for his stay from a striker of caliber of Chinese Legionnaire.

Free of charge despite the ongoing contract?

Club owner Joey Saputo has reportedly already given go-ahead. But the club’s financial prospects from Emilia-Romagna are limited. The salary demands of the 87-time BFB team player are still to be met, but the Italian medium-sized company wants to save the same transfer fee. And this is where it gets complicated.

Arnautovic still has a contract in Shanghai that runs until the end of 2022. According to “Corriere dello Sport”, however, the attacking player is confident about being able to make a free transfer in the summer. In the Chinese Super League, several clubs have given rise to serious financial problems in recent months, and Shanghai should have no objection to saving the salaries of the Austrians.

But there is still apprehension in Bologna that the Premier League club may come around the corner with a better offer.

Perceptive Montreal

At least “Rosoblau” has a long-term plan. Allegedly, Aranutovic has the option of signing a two-year contract in Italy and then switching to Major League Soccer. Bologna President Joey Saputo is also the founder and owner of CF Montreal, Canada’s MLS club. Sapto’s family has formed “Saputo Inc.” created a dairy empire.

In recent years, players have regularly moved back and forth between Bologna and Montreal, such as Marco Di Vaio, Andrea Pisanu, Blurim Djemi, Saphire Tedder, Lassi Laplin, Sebastian Brezza and more.

It is quite possible that the possibility of being able to play in Major League Soccer after the Serie A appeal returned to Aranutovic.
