McDonald’s: New Burger Just for You
McPlant is now on the menu after the first successful testing phase in the Netherlands. Dutch sites had been testing meat-free burgers for over a year and demand was apparently so high that they decided to offer it in principle. “We are delighted that McPlant has a permanent place on the menu,” says Stijn Mantrop.
“During the tentative launch last year, we received many positive comments from our guests about the taste of McPlant,” said marketing director at McDonald’s Netherlands. “We find it important to keep up with the preferences of our guests, who always expect more variety. For a while now we have offered delicious alternatives to chicken with our veggie products, and now we are doing the same for beef.”

McPlant too soon in Germany?
As of 2020, MacPlant is already available in Sweden, the UK, Austria, Australia and Portugal. And since 2021, Beyond Meat is delivering meatless patties exclusively for the fast food chain. It is based on the proteins of peas and rice, as well as potatoes and beets. The burger itself is not vegetarian, however, as it is served with cheddar and egg-based mayonnaise.
