Mike Pompeo is said to have given personal work to employees

Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is said to have not only assigned official work to his government employees. However, it violates an important standard.

Dog Walks, Gifts for Friends, Restaurant Reservation: Former Secretary of State Mike pompeo During his tenure, government employees were hired to perform private functions. According to an internal report by the State Department Inspector General, Pompeo and his wife Susan have awarded more than a hundred such contracts, which were published on Friday. In doing so, Pompeos would have violated the “standard of ethical behavior for executive branch employees”.

The investigation report stated that several times high-ranking advisers were asked by the Pompeo couple to take care of the family dog. In addition, employees are asked to receive gifts for friends and acquaintances or to make reservations at the restaurant.

Trump blocked investigation

The State Department inspector general was fired last year after former President Donald Trump began investigating the allegations against Pompeo. However, his office continued to investigate and has now published more than a hundred alleged rule violations.

The report also recommends clarifying the rules of conduct. In many cases it was unclear to employees whether the orders were private or official, for example when security precautions were necessary for private companies.

Serious charges

Democratic MP Gregory Meeks, chairman of the US House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee, accused Pompeo of misusing his position in favor of “himself, his family and his future political ambitions”. He asked for further investigation.
