Canada has been crowned world champion 27 times, and the #28 title is to follow this year. Chances are not bad, as the squad that Hockey Canada is sending to Finland has a lot of class.
The Canadians, who were crowned world champions in Riga last year, look to defend their title this year. Head coach Claude Julian will have an interesting mix in Finland which certainly has what he needs to defend his title. The New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators and Vegas Golden Knights have the most cracks with three cracks each.
Top performers such as Matthew Barzal, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Thomas Chabot and Drake Batherson can be found in the Maple Leaf squad. Along with Kent Johnson and Cole Silinger, the team also has two 2021 draft picks. Canada will start its 85th World Cup tournament against Germany on May 13 in the Finnish capital Helsinki. Here is the 24-man roster of Team Canada:
Goalkeeper: Chris Drieser (Seattle Kraken), Logan Thompson (Vegas Golden Knights), Matt Tomkins (Frolunda Gothenburg)
