As Formula 1 unfolds, streaming Netflix continues to boom: a crime thriller with world star Robert De Niro in the works, and season 3 of the successful documentary “Drive to Survive” is ready soon.
For the American media company Netflix, Formula 1 is still in force – complete throttle. The streaming service and producers of the films and series have been pampering fans with the excellent documentary “Drive to Survive” since 2019, with Grand Prix fans rarely coming close to the game.
Also in the year 2020, Netflix experts were in the paddock to work on the third season of the documentary. The work is nearing completion, as tweeted by producer Paul Martin. He posted a picture of a film processing table, behind it is a screen on which world champion Lewis Hamilton can be seen. Martin wrote: “Almost done.”
In 2019 and 2020, seasons 1 and 2 were released in February. Netflix has not yet revealed when season 3 will begin. The first trailer should be out soon. The first two seasons were placed entirely online after completion, i.e. ten episodes at the same time.
Haas team boss Gunther Steiner has become a documentary star due to his rustic expression. Thinking of his strong sentiments, South Tyrolean said of the series: “I think it’s unsuitable for my daughter. But why do I pretend? The series is supposed to show Formula 1 as truthfully as possible, and emotions are a very early part of Grand Prix racing. I think the people of Netflix are very good at showing that Formula 1 ticks. “
The then Renault star Daniel Ricardo invited people from Netflix to his second home in Perth and Monaco. «When you welcome a film crew to your four walls, you want to feel comfortable. The people of Netflix have always been respected. I think the result is very successful, and I hope many people see it on a real screen, not on their smartphones. It is a bit strange to see myself in the film. I think that is very different from how I experience myself. This project is good for the entire Formula 1. »
“I believe the Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’ is the key to Formula 1’s success in the USA. I think the series has changed something in the US. Formula 1 has gotten a big performance. I spend a lot of time in the states , And when the series didn’t exist, I almost couldn’t grab anyone’s attention. I was treated as a person, but not as a Formula 1 driver. Now I keep hearing: ‘I saw you on Netflix Tha, this show is great! ‘.
In addition to the successful documentary, Netflix has embarked on another project around Formula 1: Premier Class, for which Netflix has signed world stars Robert De Niro (77) and John Boyega (28).
The screenplay, direction and production will be produced by Gerrard McMarre, who has received acclaim for his Netflix production “Burning Sands” and the horror thriller “The First Purge”. On Instagram, McMurry described what would be “The Formula”: “A young man from Detroit is working to become an international racing star in Formula 1. His mentor is a mafia-roots man.” Are forced to drive escape vehicles to save.
