The new Office version brings new features, especially for working on documents simultaneously. In addition, the first changes are visible in a major redesign.
On October 5, Microsoft will release new office 2021 version. This means that users of Office applications have, among other things, access to new collaboration features previously reserved for Microsoft 365 customers. Also, Microsoft has given a new design to the apps.
The new version of Office appears in the style Windows-redesign. Office design chief John Friedman announced earlier in 2020 that Microsoft Fundamentally change the interface of Office apps Will. Current changes are clearly part of long-term change.
The most noticeable are the rounded window corners, colored icons, and new tabs in the ribbon. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, One Note, Outlook, Access, Project, Publisher and Visio have been redesigned. This applies to both Office 2021 and Microsoft 365.
You can work on an Office document simultaneously through the One Drive cloud storage service. If a document is stored there, it can be shared with others. One Drive automatically saves updates and notifies all employees of changes. The team collaboration platform is also part of the new Office version.
Other functions that are now active even for Office users without a Microsoft subscription are recording PowerPoint presentations, an expanded library with PowerPoint content, and modern Excel formulas. Features like Presenter Coach in PowerPoint or grammatical suggestions in the editor still require a Microsoft 356 subscription.
Office Home and Student 2021 costs 149.00 euros. This includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Microsoft Teams for PC and Mac. Office Home and Business 2021 costs 299.00 euros. It also includes Outlook for PC and Mac and the rights to use the application for business purposes.
Alternatively, the apps are included in a Microsoft 365 subscription, which costs 7 euros per month or 69 euros per year for an individual. Both run on the three latest versions of Windows 11, Windows 10 and macOS.
