Billie Jean King Cup: Bencic and Teachman challenged by Canada

In the final tournament of the Billie Jean King Cup in Glasgow on Friday, the Swiss team and Canada will face off in a decisive duel for a group victory and an entry into the semi-finals. Like the Swiss a day earlier, Canada also defeated Italy 3-0 on Thursday. On paper, captain Heinz Gunthard’s team with Belinda Bencic (WTA 12) and Jill Teichmann (WTA 35) is slightly favored against Leyla Fernandez (WTA 40) and Bianca Andreescu (WTA 45). However, Canadians are more likely to be classified as strong according to the classification. Fernandez was in the final of the US Open last year, and Andreescu also won the tournament in 2019. She returned to the rankings mainly due to injuries, but now seems to be in top form again. The winner of the match with two singles and one doubles will take on the USA or Czech Republic in the semi-finals on Saturday.
