Group stage over, minimum goal achieved: The German national goalball team is on target at the World Cup in Portugal. A big part awaits Nils Emig from SSG Blista Marburg and his teammates in the quarter-finals in top favorite China on Thursday (15 December).

With a 14:6 win against Algeria, the German national goalball team on Wednesday (14 December) secured fourth place in their preliminary round group at the World Cup in Portugal and thus a place in the quarter-finals. “That was the minimum target, so we can be satisfied,” says Nils Emig. The 24-year-old national player of Bundesliga club SSG Blista Marburg met China with the German team led by former SSG player Michael Dennis at 12:30pm German time on Thursday (December 15). The Asians topped the second group and are among the top favorites in the continental tournament.
