Charlene surprised with Christmas card

For months there was speculation about Charlene’s health. The Princess of Monaco is currently resting at the Swiss clinic, from where she is now sharing Christmas cards with her fans. It looks different than usual.

Usually the royals issue Christmas cards just before the holidays that feature the whole family. For example, Prince William and Duchess Kate shared a photo with their three children on Instagram on December 10, which they took during a visit to Jordan earlier this year.

“We are delighted to share a new family photo that can be seen on this year’s Christmas card,” wrote the British royals on the shot, in which they sit in loose clothes and smile in front of a rock.

With Monegasque Royals, however, the Christmas card looks different than usual. Because instead of a portrait photo with her loved ones, Princess Charlene only shares an example of her family.

“I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday” is to be read next to the picture. It shows an illustrated version of the 43-year-old and his family. She stands next to her husband, Prince Albert II, in a yellow dress, with two seven-year-old twins Gabriella and Jacques in front of them. Apart from the royals, a sumptuously decorated Christmas tree and many wrapped gifts can be seen.

Charlene von Monaco has been suffering from health problems for months, which is why a traditional portrait photo was probably removed this year. Just days after returning from South Africa in early November, she left the principality to recover from a serious infectious disease in a Swiss hospital.

Prince Albert confirmed to People magazine that she was suffering from emotional and physical exhaustion. In South Africa, doctors previously forbade Charlene to fly back home after a serious ear, nose and throat infection, which is why she had to heal herself on site for a long time.

The Monegasque princely couple met in 2000, and Albert II and Charlene have been married since 2011. Both the children were born in December 2014. It is not known whether the family will be holidaying together or whether Charlene will remain in the hospital.
