He walked with a firm step. But the weight of heavy memory rests on his shoulders.

Prince walks away at Queen’s funeral ceremony William (40) and To trouble (38) behind the king Charles III. (73) Via London. From Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall 1200 meters away, every step is also a step in the past.

The princes knew the process! After all, they’ve encountered it before: almost exactly 25 years ago on September 6, 1997, when he followed the coffin of his mother, Diana († 36). Two billion people saw him do this. Nevertheless, the coffin rested on a cart in front of them as the funeral procession proceeded along Hyde Park.

They were still children then, William 15, Harry only 12. The suit looked huge, cheeks flushed, eyes directed down in shame. Yesterday he walked energetically, with determination. Children have become statesmen.

Then thousands of people on the side of the road shared their pain. Only when the funeral procession ended did the streets applaud for the queen, the king, but also the heir to the throne and his brother.

Divided in family, but united in pain and sorrow on this day.
